Artwork
In my work, I have been exploring the phenomenon of falling in love with images and the idea, of people we have never met, through phones and other screenbearing technologies. Using analog painting and drawing techniques consisting of juxtaposing abstraction, impressionism, and realism to create portraits that are simulacra (a copy of a copy) of myself, and my friends and found images of people I don't know executed with a digital influence. My goal is to speak on the dilution of human attention, communication, and intimacy into messages and data that are carried through electrical signals and compare them to those of our nervous systems. This process results in the compression of a moment into a digital image, into a tangible image. This raises the question “How different are atoms and pixels?”
