Artist Statement: My practice centers around exploring visual distortions and their relationship to tools and technology. As a native Atlantan, growing up knowing Coca-Cola was a widely recognized brand worldwide made me feel the city I was from was important. Learning the humble origins of the iconic Coca-Cola beverage and how it grew into the global icon it is today, inspired by this artwork that uses this newly emerged technology of AI video generated from text and image prompts. By collaborating with and teaching the AI and feeding it photos of the people and places from that time, I offer a unique glimpse into the past to examine the origin and transformation of the Coca-Cola beverage from a tonic for headaches to the massive brand it is today.
