Now Open - Call for Curators (Feb 9th - March 9th, 2023)
Local Stories 2023
Arts and Entertainment (A&E) Atlanta is seeking curators to apply for its 2023 Local Stories series in Downtown Atlanta. Local Stories is an ongoing initiative using creative visual storytelling to present lesser-known facts about Downtown Atlanta's rich history. A&E Atlanta partners with historians to uncover and present meaningful and unexpected tales about our city for artists to interpret through a visual lens.
Curators will each select three Atlanta-based artists and help them choose a local story to visualize. We encourage artists to express this theme through a variety of digital formats including, but not limited to: animation, dynamic painting, generative code, 3D modeling, video, photography, etc.
All artworks created for the 2023 series will be given a one-month run on the A&E Atlanta digital sign at Margaret Mitchell Square (140 Peachtree St NW). The works will be displayed on a rolling basis from September 2023 - May 2024. Curators and artists will have input on the rollout schedule, and phase placement will not impact payment*.
Additionally, all artworks included in the Local Stories series will become a part of the formal digital art collection of Arts and Entertainment Atlanta. This permanent collection of exceptional digital works by Atlanta artists will be archived online as a resource for public engagement.
*Note: This is a paid opportunity for all artists and curators. The selected curator will receive a stipend of $3,000 and each artist will receive $3,000. The curator cannot submit themselves as a participating artist.
