Nathan Wallace

Project Support – Poetry Composition Series

Nathan R. Wallace, an Atlanta-based poet from Hinesville, Georgia, embarked on a mission fueled by personal tragedy. After losing a close friend to suicide, Nathan composed a poignant eulogy poem, sparking a commitment to giving people their well-deserved recognition in life. His mission, reminiscent of appreciating fragrant flowers before they wither, extends to providing a platform for individuals to share their stories through poetry. Nathan's transformative workshops empower others, creating spaces where voices are celebrated and heard before it's too late.

Rooted in Southern values, Nathan's work challenges individuals and society to transcend past generations, advocating for love with empathy, accountability, and grace. He delves into familial structures perpetuating generational curses and addresses social, mental, emotional, and political issues affecting himself and his community.

Nathan's accolades underscore his talent and dedication, including being the 2023 Soul Fried Individual Poet Runner-up, the 2022 Screentime Slam Season 6 winner, and the 2019 Atlanta Youth Poet Laureate. Beyond poetry, Nathan is a teaching artist and host, conducting workshops on topics ranging from mental health to social activism. Collaborating with organizations like BET, the Atlanta Hawks, and Marsai Martin, he shares stages with renowned acts such as Alysia Harris and Jasmine Mans.
