Fatou Bessem (b. 2000, Lawrenceville, GA) is an Afro-Surrealist painter who lives and works in Atlanta, GA. Her works explore Black Femininity and the performance of womanhood through analytical dissections inspired by baroque and religious allegories. Bessem holds a BFA from Georgia State University. Bessem's work has been exhibited in multiple Atlanta galleries such as The Bakery Atlanta, Ernest G. Welch, and Echo Contemporary. She also has experience as a gallery technician and curator.
