Project Support Grant - Contemporary Dance Performance
Meaghan Novoa (They/She) is a Dancer and Choreographer from Atlanta, GA. They have presented their choreography across the country and has received multiple grants and residencies for their choreography, including Idaho Commission On The Arts, Boise City Department Of Arts & History, Surel’s Place, LED Boise, Atlanta Contemporary/Dance Canvas, Decatur School of Ballet, and Art On The Beltline. Meaghan‘s work is influenced by their Jewish and Colombian heritage and centers queer and neurodivergent stories.
A&E Funds will support “In This House'' an immersive contemporary dance theater work that is loosely inspired by Ibsen’s “A Doll’s House” and Laura Kieler’s personal tragedies that inspired the play. This piece explores themes of family structures, gender roles, and materialism through a queer lens. The piece features six Atlanta dancers, original music by Dan Carey Bailey, and video art projection by Sean Dahlman.
